Embarking on a successful college journey can feel overwhelming, but our Digital Roadmap is here to guide you every step of the way. This interactive, four-year timeline is designed to keep you on track with personalized milestones for each stage of your college experience.
From exploring workshops and attending networking events to applying for internships and connecting with advisers, the roadmap is packed with actionable items to help you achieve your academic, professional and personal goals. Accessible and easy to use, this tool empowers you to check off accomplishments, celebrate progress and ensure you're fully prepared for life after graduation. Year 1
- Meet your advisor and create your degree plan
- Activate your Roadrunner Network, Handshake, and LinkedIn Accounts
- Attend events, workshops and employer info sessions in the HCAP Student Success Center (SSC)
- Explore Student Organizations
- Attend workshops and career fairs through the University Career Center
Year 3
- Update resume and LinkedIn accounts with experiences gained through research and community experiences
- Continue involvement with student organization and research/community
- Meet with academic advisor to confirm you are on track for graduation
- Go to the HCAP SSC for help with your cover letter/statement of purpose
- Make appointment with the HCAP Career Consultant
- Schedule an interview prep session or attend interview prep workshop(s)
- Create and practice your elevator pitch
- Attend professional development workshops and employer information sessions in the HCAP SSC
- Apply to be an HCAP Peer Mentor
- Identify writers for your letters of recommendation
- Attend college fairs and apply to 3-5 grad school programs
- Serve as an officer in your student organization
- Ask individuals if they will serve as references
- Arrange independent study if needed
- Participate in an Undergrad Research Experience or community engagement opportunity
Year 4
- Review academic and experiential transcripts
- Request letters of recommendation from faculty
- Apply for GRE if going to grad school
- Attend employer info sessions at the SSC
- Apply for graduation
- Attend Grad Fest
- Attend department celebrations
- Sign up for the UTSA Alumni Association
- Meet with advisor to ensure all requirements are complete
- Graduate!
