Mission Statement
The Center for Community Based and Applied Health Research (CCBAHR) supports interdisciplinary collaborations to advance applied health research rooted in community engagement and mutual benefit for communities and researchers. The Center is dedicated to advancing health promoting, action-oriented research to directly and promptly address community needs.
Objectives of the CCBAHR
The Center for the Community-Based and Applied Health Research is committed to:
- Fostering research collaborations among interdisciplinary researchers, health care agencies, community-based organizations, schools, and faith-based organizations;
- Increasing the number and quality of culturally sensitive and interdisciplinary community-based and applied health research studies that address health disparities across the lifespan for underserved populations;
- Employing innovative approaches for public and scientific dissemination of information regarding the Center’s activities and outcomes;
- Providing opportunities for research activities for undergraduate and graduate community health and nutrition students;
- Improving the health and well-being of community members in the greater San Antonio metropolitan area and throughout South Texas using community-based and applied health initiatives;
- Establish national recognition for UTSA’s innovative community-based and applied health research and place UTSA on the global map.
