The Psychophysiology, Health, and Stress Evaluation Laboratory (PHASE Lab) focuses on understanding the role of stress and psychosocial factors in influencing both physical and psychological health outcomes. A key area of our research examines how individual differences in relation to personality (e.g., the Big Five, Type D personality), mental health (e.g., depression, disordered eating), and social relationships (e.g., social support, hostile social relationships) influence how individuals physiologically and psychologically respond when confronted with psychological stress. We aim to identify psychosocial interventions that may be effective in promoting more adaptive stress appraisals and physiological responses.
