Your department has incredible students, faculty and events. Social media is how we share that with the world (and prospective students, alumni and donors).
Quick tips for great posts:
- Include faces when possible—they connect best!
- Use clear, well-lit photos (avoid clutter)
- Portrait orientation works best for Stories
Avoid posts that feel like:
- A flyer pasted into a square with no explanation.
- A post that looks like an internal email.
- A photo with no faces or meaning (e.g., empty room with
“event today!”)
Recommended posts:
- Group photos and faces> the back of peoples heads
- Flyers = great in Stories, not as a standalone feed post
- Don’t worry about being “perfect.” Being relatable and relevant matters most.
- Cool lab spaces or hands-on learning
- Deadline reminders (with visuals)
- Student spotlights and recognitions
- Events WITH context: “Free pizza, come meet recruiters!”
- Faces > Buildings
