Maria Bradley is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in physical education. She plans to pursue a career in physical education.

Maria BradleyWhat made you decide to attend UTSA? 

UTSA is a Hispanic serving community, and others said it was a friendly environment.

What made you choose your major?

I have always been physically active and wanted to share my knowledge and love of physical education.

What has been your favorite moment/experience at UTSA?

My favorite moment is attending football games; my favorite experience is how welcoming the UTSA community has been to me.

What accomplishments are you most proud of from your time in college?

Receiving Dean's list every semester, UTSA Honor Roll with a 3.89 GPA. I also completed Honors College, was inducted into The National Society of  Leadership and Success at UTSA, and am a first-generation student.

What was the biggest challenge you faced during your college years, and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge was being a non-traditional student and having to relearn how to learn after not attending school for decades.

If you could give advice to incoming students, what would it be?

I advise you to do your best and never give up because dreams do come true!

What’s your go-to comfort food for stressful study sessions?

Dark chocolate almonds are my comfort food.

What surprised you the most about college life?

I was amazed by how welcoming the staff and students were to me. They made me feel like a student who belonged with them, and my age did not matter.

How do you want to use your degree to make a difference in your community or field?

To teach physical education to young students and the importance of staying active now and through adulthood.

If you had to sum up your college experience in three words, what would they be?

Persistent, resilient, exhausting.

What’s one piece of advice that you received during college that you’ll carry with you?

Coach Sandra Morales instilled in me the desire to be a coach/PE teacher who inspires students, and I plan to be the best teacher I can be for my students.
