(Sept. 12, 2019) — The Department of Criminal Justice is officially The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. The change was approved by UT System and takes effect immediately.
The Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice houses experts in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, criminological and criminal justice system theories, and substantive expertise in policing, courts, and corrections. Thus, it spans the areas of health, community, and policy. The new name of the department captures the research breadth of its faculty, which will be leveraged by its association with other departments in the social sciences.
