Alcohol Administration Experiment

What are the requirements for being in an alcohol administration experiment?

The requirements vary by experiment, but generally the requirements include being a social drinker between ages 21 and 30.

Does everybody get to drink alcohol in the experiment?

No. Unfortunately we won't know if you will drink alcohol until you arrive at the study because we assign you randomly to a drink condition.

Do I have to be at least 21 years old to be in an alcohol administration experiment?

Yes.

I lost my Driver's License or State ID, can I use a school ID/ birth certificate to verify my age?

No. We need to verify your age with a government-issued ID that has your picture on it along with your date of birth. Acceptable documents include a U.S. passport, a U.S. passport card, or a U.S. Military card.

What do participants receive for participating?

This varies by experiment. In one of the experiments, participants receive $15.00 per hour for participating. Students may also receive credit towards UTSA's Introduction to Psychology research activity requirement instead of receiving money.
