The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Social Work seeks to fill two faculty positions to begin in Fall 2022: one at the Assistant Professor level and one at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Successful candidates must demonstrate their ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse urban populations and support the University's commitment to community engagement and public service. We especially encourage applications with strong research agendas in the areas of 1) mental health/behavioral health, 2) child welfare/foster care/child maltreatment or 3) veterans/military health.

UTSA is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) that is one of the fastest growing public universities in Texas and gaining momentum in its quest to become the state's next premier Tier 1 University. It serves the San Antonio metropolitan area, the seventh largest U.S. city, and the broader region of South Texas through programs and services offered from four campuses. More than 67% of UTSA students come from groups underrepresented in higher education, and a majority are the first in their families to attend a college or university. The San Antonio/Bexar County area is rich with opportunity for community collaboration. The Department of Social Work maintains a strong relationship with child and family serving agencies in the San Antonio metro area, including the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. San Antonio is also home to one of the largest concentrations of military bases in the United States, and UT Health San Antonio hosts the Strong Star Research Network, a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional research consortium funded by the Department of Defense and Veteran Affairs. San Antonio offers the cultural attributes and amenities of a large, metropolitan city with a low cost of living.

The UTSA Department of Social Work is the first publicly funded graduate social work program in San Antonio.
