HCAP Engaged Scholars serve our community

HCAP Engaged Scholars have been busy having fun and serving our community in November:

Youth Summit

  • Engaged Scholars volunteered their time at Up Partnerships Future Ready Youth Summit for high school juniors and seniors last week. These UTSA students led workshops on civic engagement, life as a First Gen student in college, and navigating degree and career choices.
  • Students in PAD 3073 Civic Leadership have also been volunteering as coaches for local middle and high school teams as they prepare to pitch their solutions to local challenges at a citywide civics fair.
  • Students in PAD 2073 Foundations of Civic Engagement are fostering friendships with students from around the world and building skill in having conversations on challenging topics through the Soliya Connect Program.

Youth Summit 2

The Engaged Scholars program is open to all HCAP undergraduate students. To graduate with the HCAP Engaged Scholar distinction, students simply need to take PAD 2073 and PAD 3073 and earn a C or better in these courses and have a 3.0 or better in their major at the time of graduation.

We encourage all HCAP faculty to announce this opportunity to their undergraduate classes. For more info contact Lisa.Johns@utsa.edu.
